AND
THE WINNERS OF THIS YEARS BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS ARE...

The Hospitality,
Leisure and Tourism industry's finest, gathered for the first
national Business Excellence Awards Ceremony, at a glittering
Gala Awards Dinner held in London on Wednesday, 3 May 2006.
The Best Practice
Forum's Business
Excellence Awards are among the most prestigious and highly coveted
in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry. They
are awarded to UK businesses that have demonstrated their willingness
to adopt or adapt best practice in all aspects of their operation
so raising their efficiency and their profitability. They
show how innovative business practice can achieve outstanding
success.
The quality
of this year's entries was very high bringing together some of
the most renowned and respected businesses in their sectors and
some of the smallest operators.
Bob Cotton,
Chief Executive of the British Hospitality Association, the Best
Practice Forum's lead association, says that the awards recognise
world-class standards of excellence across all sectors of the
hospitality, tourism and leisure industry.
"They
reward those businesses in the industry which have done most to
sharpen their competitiveness and to increase productivity by
improving their performance, They are both the benchmark for and
the recognition of business excellence in the industry."
he said "You should all be very proud of your achievements
to date, the judges certainly were and believe me, you gave them
a run for their money in their deliberations. It was a very difficult
task selecting the winners". He continued "Some of you
may perhaps be disappointed tonight but please do reflect on what
you have achieved in your business and compare your results to
those before you undertook your projects, and I think that you
will see that you are indeed a winner already in the eyes of your
own businesses today."
All finalists
were judged alongside other national businesses from within their
industry. The judging process was very stringent, including an
inspection of the business and an interview with all applicants.
A panel of judges finally selected the winners on the grounds
of application of management skills, knowledge, achievement of
project objectives, realisation of benefits, quality of customer
service and client relationships.
An employee
of the overall winners business will receive up to a two-week
summer business school programme of their choice sponsored by
The Savoy Educational Trust, at an esteemed Hospitality, Leisure
or Tourism, Management School, such as Cornell University, the
Ecole Hôteliére de Lausanne in Switzerland.
